Postdoctoral Fellows

Postdoctoral applicants are expected to have a PhD in Neuroscience, Behavioral Neuroscience, Computational Neuroscience, Pharmacology, or a related field. Prior experience with behavioral, neuropharmacological, histochemical, and/or computational approaches is advantageous, as is a solid understanding and appreciation of statistical analyses. Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.

If you are looking for a postdoctoral position and interested in using chemogenetic, optogenetic, calcium imaging, and/or computational tools to probe brain circuitry, reach out to Dr. Shelly Flagel.

Graduate Students

We are affiliated with the Neuroscience Graduate Program and the Program in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Michigan. To join our lab, you must apply through one of these programs. Application deadlines are typically around December 1.

Informal inquiries regarding the possibility of rotating in our lab as a graduate student are encouraged and can be directed to Dr. Shelly Flagel.

Undergraduate Students

We love (and value) having undergraduate students in the lab and are always looking for bright, talented, responsible, and enthusiastic individuals to join our team. Previous lab experience is a bonus, but not required. We also encourage our undergraduate students to pursue an honors thesis under our mentorship. We can currently sponsor undergraduate students through the Undergraduate Research Opportunity ProgramWork-Study Program, and for academic credit through the Psychology Department or Undergraduate Program in Neuroscience. In addition, we love to host summer research students through programs affiliated with the Neuroscience Graduate Program and the Summer Research Opportunity Program.

Informal inquiries regarding the possibility of joining our lab are encouraged and can be directed to Dr. Shelly Flagel.
