Dr. Flagel and collaborators receive an R34 (DA061925) Brain Initiative grant
Dr. Flagel is excited to start a new research direction with her collaborators, Dr. Jacinta Beehner (University of Michigan) and Dr. Marcela Benítez (Emory University). The title of their new grant is, “Building an ‘AI Forest’ to identify the social and environmental factors underlying complex behavioral traits in wild primates”.

Welcome to the Flagel Lab, Daniela Pereira!
The Flagel Lab is excited to welcome Daniela Pereira, a Neuroscience graduate student to the lab. We were lucky to have Daniela in the lab as a summer student in 2022 (via NSF REU #1852074) and so happy she decided to conduct her dissertation research with us.

Princess Felix was awarded a F31 from NIDA
Princess Felix, a graduate student in the lab, was awarded an F31 (DA062446) to support her dissertation research. The title of her project is, "The glucocorticoid receptor as a top-down neuromolecular mechanism of inhibitory control".

Dr. Flagel and Princess Felix Awarded PACE Fellowship
Dr. Flagel and Princess Felix were selected as recipients of the inaugural PACE Fellowship from the Rackham Graduate School at the University of Michigan. The PACE Fellowship recognizes accomplished student-faculty pairs with demonstrated commitment to program climate and student success.

Princess Felix Named NIDA Diversity Scholars Travel Awardee
Princess Felix, a Neuroscience Graduate Student in the lab, was selected as a 2024 NIDA Diversity Scholars Travel Awardee to attend the annual Society for Neuroscience (SfN) conference in Chicago, IL, in October.

Brianna Ramos Wins Poster Award at Karle Symposium
Brianna Ramos, a Neuroscience Graduate Student in the lab (Co-Mentored by Drs. Flagel and Kennedy), won a Poster Award at the Karle Symposium hosted by the University of Michigan Department of Chemistry and sponsored by the Dow Chemical Company, DuPont, and PPG.

Brianna Ramos Receives NIDA Diversity Supplement
Brianna Ramos, a Neuroscience Graduate Student in the lab (Co-Mentored by Drs. Flagel and Kennedy), received a Diversity Supplement from NIDA (R01 DA054094-03S1) to support her dissertation research which aims to uncover the neurochemical signature of the paraventricular nucleus of the thalamus (PVT).

Flagel Lab Secures R34 BRAIN Initiative Grant
The Flagel Lab was awarded an R34 (NS132808) BRAIN Initiative grant that will allow us to establish calcium imaging and identify the neural signature of the paraventricular thalamic nucleus that underlies individual differences in cue-motivated behavior.
